I feel sad for Mary. I know that sounds condescending but I really do feel sad for her. She reminds me of kids I’ve seen with Oppositional Defiance Disorder (not diagnosing her at all!). She really deeply does not see her vindictive, defiant, and angry behavior as problematic. So when it’s brought up she has learned that crying stops the conversation and she doesn’t have to listen to criticism. My heart really goes out to her because I think she is pretty stuck in a bad place mentally but getting out requires something she cannot do–namely accept that her behavior is problematic. Her single coping method is being angry/attacking others. I don’t think coming on this show will result in anything positive for her, just continued deployment of her coping mechanism. It’s really sad to watch. But I mean, who knows. I might be way off.
