Although my job is a complex federal legal clerking position alongside judges and attorney decision writers, I could see Rebecca or Evelyn doing my job.

Evelyn though, some of the judges would hate the quality of her work, but would forgive her because she was “cute” and looked like their daughter or granddaughter.

The other judges though…. Would eat her alive and spit out her bones.

There was one female judge who looked like Frederick Douglass — I say that respectfully, however; she was very dignified — who scared the ever living shit out of me.
She was a hard woman and did not suffer fools at all. If you worked hard and did your job though, she gave you all respect due. But when her name popped up on the docket, my heart froze. Every time, lol.

But… when the time came, she actually wrote me a letter of recommendation without my asking her. I felt so honored.

Used to be a court reporter for her and the other judges until I became a law clerk. It was a heady and humbling moment when one of the judges told me the other judges were “fighting” over me to have me as their clerk when I got accepted to the position. :)
