Just like movies with books it doesnt take me long to know if ill enjoy it or not, 30 pages into Deeply odd and I was not feeling it, Is Odd Thomas delusional and lives in this make up world that only exist in his mind, that is the vibe i was getting, anyways, I got this book at the library so im thinking about returning it, in the mean time im 10 pages into Long road to mercy by Baldacci and its okay not great, just incase I also have Natchez Burning by Illes, Im familiar with his work and most of his book i enjoyed.
IMO the first 3 Odd Thomas books were readable on a descending scale. After that, I got the impression that Koontz either didn’t like his character or had lost interest in the whole project. It felt like he was fulfilling a contractual commitment and doing the bare minimum to accomplish it.
Was Brother Odd the third or fourth? That’s the one I put down in anger.
