Is this normal or are my comprehension skills just poor? The first half of a book I’ll read 20 pages an hour and the second half I can get up to 40 per hour. Its the first book I’ve read by this author and it almost feels like I’m trying to decipher a different language. I have never been the best with comprehension and have ADHD so I have found myself re reading pages constantly.
I finished blood meridian last month. It was dense. It was tough. Some of it was a slog as he describes the country. The story is incredible. I had to look up so many words and reread so many passages. I’d do it all again. Goddamn what a story. Now I’m reading the dark tower series and it’s amazing how much easier it is to read but it just doesn’t hold the same weight.
Keep at it. What a tale.
