I have two. The Ritual and Drowning.
The Ritual is pure smut. 61 chapters and every one contains a graphic, demeaning sex scene. I’m convinced the author was an adult film screenwriter and decided to try their hand at writing a novel. There isn’t a single likable character in this book.
Drowning isn’t a great work of literature. I felt that the characters were very two-dimensional. I hated how naive the author made the protagonist. It made me have a lack of sympathy for her. The ending was series finale of Dexter bad.
Wizard’s First Rule and 1/2 of Stone of Tears. Never again.
It gets worse and worse and eventually turns into an S&M fantasy.
Having endured the first one some years ago, that was already about a quarter the hero getting “tortured” in poorly disguised author fetish femdom scenes.
Oh and also a chicken is the bad guy in one of the books.
The female lead has an “almost got raped” scene in every book, at least for the first 7 or 8. We are talking erect penis seconds from penetration. It’s awful.
And then there’s all the rape for women who aren’t main characters. Rape is basically the main character.
That’s not nearly as bad as the pages long filibusters on how evul communism is. Also kill pacifists lol. I really regret reading them all but hey at least I got them super cheap in a charity shop
Each book is twice as bad as the one before it. You got out at the right time.
