I have two. The Ritual and Drowning.
The Ritual is pure smut. 61 chapters and every one contains a graphic, demeaning sex scene. I’m convinced the author was an adult film screenwriter and decided to try their hand at writing a novel. There isn’t a single likable character in this book.
Drowning isn’t a great work of literature. I felt that the characters were very two-dimensional. I hated how naive the author made the protagonist. It made me have a lack of sympathy for her. The ending was series finale of Dexter bad.
Ascension by Nicholas Binge and The Frugal Wizards Guide by Brandon Sanderson.
Ascension is not only a bad book, it’s extremely stupid. Like proper dumb. So much here that doesn’t really makes sense, or is just flat out stupid. The dumbest plot twist I have ever seen.
The other book was just a big miss. It missed everything it tried. Felt like an expanded reddit story.
I’m a big fan of Brandon Sanderson, but yeah, Frugal Wizard just absolutely wasn’t my thing. I’m glad he obviously had fun writing it, but it’s clear it’s a book for a certain type of person, and that absolutely wasn’t me.
I DNF’d Ascension because I saw Stephen King had written a horror blurb for it and I don’t do horror. At all. Why was it stupid? I’m gleeful to hear this
