I’ll read it to finish the story but The Secret Commonwealth really soured me on the new trilogy. La Belle Sauvage just had so much more going on story wise and didn’t feature a completely unnecessary assault scene. Hopefully the third book is back to form.

I absolutely love His Dark Materials, read them at a formative time in my life and it definitely shaped the way I view death. Although the first is definitely the most exciting, I loved the third book more as an adult.

Happy to hear it will hopefully be coming out next year. I thought the last one wasn’t great. Some weird world building and falling out of >!Pan and Lyra.!< Didn’t love the alchemist part or how so many other people >!are separated from their daemons. Felt it took away from Lyra being special.!<

Not that long ago, Phillip Pullman said he would be working on a “small green book” centered on Will, similar in size and shape to Lyra’s Oxford and Once Upon a Time in The North, and that he’d publish it after the 3rd and final Book of Dust

Given what he says here, I wonder what the status of Will’s Green Book is now

If we get a glimpse of Will it’ll heal something that broke in me when I first read HDM 10 years ago lol
