I work in set design and whenever I read I’m always drawn in by the locations and ‘sets’ of the book. So I wondered what places from books have really drawn other people in and stayed with them, that if you took away the characters and plot the setting would still be amazing. It could be a single room or a whole world.

The Shire in Lord of the Rings

The entirety of Wheel of Time

I just read the first couple books of Fafhrd and Grey Mouser by Fritz Lieber. There’s a thieves guild in Lankhmar with a compound that’s pretty cool. It’s basically a maze of various rooms and tunnels with secret passages and basements. It’s so vast and there’s so many secret doorways and trap doors that even the thieves don’t know the entirety of it.
