Hate pretty much all of the characters for their melodrama, but absolutely loving the story. I mean I don’t hate the characters as characters but really as people. And that to me is the sign of great writing, if you can craft characters that have compelling narratives but are auch flawed people. And they are are all so assured of their own superiority, thinking they are just so above everyone else and their petty carers. Ugh, being the reader is like, please just a little self reflection. I’m getting close to finishing it and need my next fix of society snobbery. Thinking either Vanity Fair or maybe Northanger Abbey.
Northanger Abbey will always be one I would recommend. It’s also vastly superior to Middlemarch.
And I liked Middlemarch overall, although yeah, the characters were so annoying, I just wanted to shake them to their senses.
