Look I’m not someone that comments stuff like this. But it’s starting to concern me how people are siding with her. Pedro isn’t perfect but her family always says stuff like “ what culture does this”. Also they make up the craziest things about him. Also there is a time and place to discuss stuff and they never never never even give him one minute or one meal without insulting him and his family. Even accusing him of potentially being with his sister. Also there are language barriers. Pedro has problems too but her family is so so so mean and cold. Nothing would change their mind even if he was perfect. For example when he and chantel lied in the beginning yes that was wrong but at some point you have to give him a chance. Espically if their daughter loves him. I feel genuinely bad, I wouldn’t have taken their bs. Honestly he was way more patient than I would be. Thoughts? Also she accused him off cheating because of a key he had but he’s a realtor. Another example of people accusing him of something that actually wasn’t even confirmed.

I don’t think their racist at all. Also if you’re calling out her family for being cold, you need to do the same with his family. Both of their families are on the same level although I’d say his family is worse.

It doesn’t seem like you were following closely last season because she didn’t accuse him of cheating just because he had a key and he’s a realtor. She accused him because of the key ring having his coworker’s name on it and it was brought home. Also he had the coworkers cup in their kitchen cabinet and a few other things belonging to that same coworker around the house. So her accusation of cheating didn’t come out of left field.

Also her family did give him a chance eventually. They stopped with the insults and actually hung out with him. Him and River formed a bond and literally Thomas and Karen called him their son.

I really suggest to anyone who may have stopped watching the seasons after 2 and came back to this one to go back and watch them all. You’ll see her family did give him a chance and she never became a different person. That is why his switch up was perplexing and why a lot of people now are thinking he must’ve really used her.

its the go to excuse Pedro supports use to blame Chantel for the divorce, and also to deny that he actually married her to use her. He got so much out of marrying Chantel.

This was established the moment they refused to leave their car to spend time with her family in an early season of the original show.

I think people who have toxic in laws knows it can ruin a marriage. On the show, it doesn’t seem like they had each other’s back when their families got involved. Could be for the show or real life 🤷🏻‍♀️. I mean look how Chantel’s family treated her brother (Royal) and his wife… I never liked either families so I barely watch the spin off but the final chapter, Chantel doesn’t even look recognizable

Both of the families are pretty toxic. Im not going to go as far as to say they are all making up a bunch of stuff when tv is clearly edited to make the narrative more interesting for people to watch. I’m not sure about him scamming her or but it should be a concern if she feels like he only wanted a green card, things like that do happen. I don’t think he cheated, but people lie right? I personally try not to get so invested into the show and just watch from a perspective of tv entertainment

And so it’s Pedro’s family. They are extremely anti-Black American despite being brown their damn selves. Karen didn’t lie - sometimes a spade is a spade.

They’re definitely Hispsnics of African descent. In the US, that means Black. Chantel’s family aren’t racist as they see Pedro as a black individual. There are many Hispanic people who are of African descent who try to deny that fact. They’re the reason the US stopped asking Blaack, White, or Hispanic. They now have Hispanic of African descent or not. So, they can say they’re Hispanic, but they’ll be Black as soon as Pedro brings them here.

I don’t think they’re racist. I think they have major boundary problems and are too involved in Chantel’s life, but anyone can clearly see how shady Pedro’s family is. Chantel’s family is weird, but Lidia and Nicole both have serious user vibes and seem to be overly interested in money. The way Lidia was suddenly nice when Chantel bought her some designer items last season, the way she told Pedro that he would buy her a house once he left Chantel, asking Scott about the money he sent his ex, and the cold way she handled Pedro finding out that he was the product of an affair was really disturbing. And I don’t forget the friend who she fell out with who exposed her for running romance scams with Americans. And then there’s Nicole who seems to have an irrational hatred for Chantel even though she’s slowly copied her look. Both of them have very bad vibes.

Chantel’s family is really xenophobic, especially with the idea that Pedro wanted to “harvest the American dollar.” Pedro acted like a jerk towards the end of their relationship (and continues to act like a jerk), but I’m not sold on the idea that he was scamming her all along.

Anyone who has been to the DR knows it is a cesspool. If you return, you are part of the problem. Chantel included.

The sexual harassment of local males to our females on a family group vacation, aged 60 to 14, was constant. Our menfolk couldn’t relax, because, we needed a chaperone, at all times. A staff member of the resort was breaking into my nieces room to drop off fruit and love notes. When I finally complained to the resort, I was told, “in the DR if you bleed, you breed. My own Mom was 13 when she had me.” This response to anxiety over the safety of a minor girl.

Clearly, Danielle types like this kind of attention. She also wasn’t there with a daughter.

I’m sorry you had that experience. We were there for about 3 weeks but we weren’t at a resort we were living on a sailboat. We were mostly in luperon and Samana. Everyone was very kind. I was about 12 years old and my mom was in her 40’s. Didn’t experience the sexual harassment you describe.

Yes, their behavior is very offensive. Karen is convinced that she is more than everyone else. If I were Pedro, I would be gone in less than a year, even if I was in love.

That couple didn’t have a chance because both of their families were fucking awful.

They drove a massive wedge between them despite the fact that they both actually loved each other in the beginning.
