I like books a lot and enjoy it when video games release novels to expand on their universes. It seems like most of what comes out like this though is uninspired corporate garbo. Any of y’all know some good video game tie-ins that don’t suck?

I’ll go first… I’m pretty fond of The Infernal City and its sequel Lord of Souls by Gregory Keyes. They’re novels that take place in the Elder Scrolls universe between Oblivion and Skyrim. They’re not the best fantasy books out there but they’re decent (which is also helped out by the fact they take place in the coolest fantasy universe in a video game series imo). It would’ve been cool if Skyrim referenced them in some way when it came out, but that might be asking for too much lol.

Bioshock: Rapture by John Shirley does a pretty good job of weaving together the background details of the first two games into a pretty compelling prequel novel.
