I’m rewatching the show for the millionth time and I’m at the beginning of the fifth season, Ep3 Planned Obsolescence. It’s where, after starting to very casually date, Bojack finds out Gina is constantly listening to a musical and he gets obsessed with trying to get her to open up, goes so far as to create a situation for her to possibly sing in Philbert. The question I’m dealing with right now is this: was Bojack ever actually interested in dating GINA or was he simply projecting his absolute need to be loved onto her, and the more she kept him at a distance the harder he tried to break her open? Give me your thoughts. I’m not looking for politics and Jesus people everyone has an opinion so let it go, don’t get into fights over a fictional tv show—it’s truly a waste of your time. Thanks!

I feel like it might be a little bit of both.

The relationship Bojack has with Gina is honestly pretty good as far as Bojack relationships go. It wouldn’t be a stretch to believe he genuinely has feelings for her. At the same time though, Bojack is Bojack, and Bojack subconsciously has his own needs for validation and love.

I wonder if Gina was one of the people Bojack apologized to during his time at rehab.

I don’t think he would have apologised to Gina. The ethos of rehab is to make amends and apologise EXCEPT where to do so would cause further harm to the person. So (hopefully) Bojack will follow that and respect Penny and Gina by staying the f away from them.
