I find myself siding with Ed in the whole boat fiasco. Asking Jovi about his daughter is a very valid question that shouldn’t be taboo. The fact that he reacted the way he did probably indicates some kind of hidden shame but a parent should always reflect on how their behaviour would affect their children. A father has a very important role, especially with a daughter. Furthermore, even Liz being as upset as she was was confusing and overdramatic to me. She shouldn’t have said or felt that Ed was going to get beaten up - that’s emasculating and she shouldn’t consider it her role to be the man to protect him so Ed wanting her to not do that wasn’t too much to ask. And he was being respectful until she stubbornly continued arguing about it.
