I feel like she makes the one simple mistake that a lot of people who do political comedy make: she goes for the joke too often without enough of a set up. This makes the show not funny.

I am a big Leslie Jones fan though. She was a massively underrated SNL cast member. I feel like people didn’t appreciate her genuine craziness and individuality. But she has to actually address an issue or teach us something before she goes for the joke. Just by shear probability, trying to land a joke as often as she does will mean she needs a higher quantity of jokes, which means they will probably be of a lesser quality on average,

I like Leslie, but she’s not the right fit imo. She seemed like she was just trying to force her stand up routine into the TDS host seat without really being a host.

She freely admitted to not knowing what the electoral college was, and I was a bit sad when I heard her say the Supreme Court existed thousands of years without an ethics code. America is not even 300 years old.

You should know at least basic high school civics and history if you’re going to host a news parody.

She’d be a good contributor based solely on how weird she is, but the host needs to be half a news anchor for this to work.
