Patriot Act was a hysterical show. It is probably one of the last shows that would consistently make me belly laugh. We can debate whether his creative license was manipulative or artistically valid, but I mean he shouldn’t lose a show that the world used to think he deserves. He is honestly extraordinarily talented in my humble opinion.

EDIT: I believe this despite being a massive Bill Maher fan. You can search my post history: I am very active on the r/Maher subreddit.

he’s pretty right wing at this point

No he isn’t. Being pro-free speech and having conversations with republicans doesn’t make you right-wing.

Pff. He’s Joe Rogan, except older & (even) more reactionary. When I want to hear someone just talk shit and act persecuted, I listen to Meek Mill.

Right wing might be the wrong word. Reactionary is probably better. I stopped watching his show years ago after it was clear he wasn’t actually willing to consider opinions contrary to his reactionary positions re Islam, gender fluidity, and supposed cancel culture.

Bill Maher is such an asshole that I hate him even when I agree with every word he says, because he is so incredibly smug and such a massive dick. There is no oneone the planet more pleased with himself than Bill Maher. And he’s not even “edgy” anymore (the old excuse). He’s just a jerk.
