It’s really interesting the way they handled this. Bojack wasn’t wrong, just a little tone deaf.
Then after this “incident” they just made Bojack a bad person all the time. Like in the 2nd episode he gets taken for a ride and it’s not his fault.
The rest of the series it’s all his fault but he rarely gets the crap he deserves.
