He wants to be a superhero which I’m pretty sure doesn’t require a post secondary education and on top of that he’s already having enough trouble balancing being a superhero and a boyfriend. So that just makes me wonder why would he want to go to college and put even more on his already overly stacked plate? It’s just very strange to me that given his circumstances you would want anything to do with college.

Maybe because he needs to know basic things and how stuff is connected ?
We saw in episode 2 with Eve what happens when you do not work on code and don’t know enough.
Best intentions aren’t helpful if you don’t know how things are connected.
