I’m interested to hear what the majority of readers have to say. Do you read blurbs (the quotes from other authors either on the front or back cover plugging the book) or do you ignore them?

Personally, I never paid attention to blurbs. But then I interned at a publishing company and blurb acquisition was such a big deal that I found myself starting to noticing blurbs more on the books I was reading. But still, most of the time, I don’t really care what other authors have to say and I just start reading.

Interested to hear your thoughts!

I read the blurb bit which tells you a bit about the book, although I do sometimes just buy books based off titles/ covers alone. I don’t read what other authors have to say as they’re not going to put anything bad on there are they (“don’t read this book it’s awful”- Colleen Hoover or “the story really drags and there’s too much description”- NY Times. And usually they are just one word like “brilliant” which tells me nothing) I have scanned to look for author names on some books if I don’t know whether to buy it. Usually if an author I like has commented on the book, then it’s probably going to be a good book.
