If you’re anything like me, you probably read a lot of books and forget a lot about them as well after reading them (also see: being ADHD)

Is there one specific book whose plot, characters, setting you just can’t get out of your mind and still think about today even when in the midst of another book?

For me, it’s 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. I think due to the sheer volume of this book (clocked in over 1000 pages) I was so invested in Tengo and Aomame’s stories that it’s quite impossible to forget them quickly. This is also why I prefer long novels, because they stick around in my memory for longer!

So what book is still stuck with you?

The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue - by V E Schwabb, really interesting concept and quite sweeping in scope.

Remarkably Bright Creatures- by Shelby van Pelt, very charming, gentle mystery, almost cosy with a hinf of magical realism

Addie LaRue is one of my favourite books EVER. Read early last year and still cherish it.

A recommendation I have based on that one is The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna by Juliet Grames. Both books showed me why magical realism is so special.

Addie La Rue had a few things that were hard for me. Mostly that she would go 100 years at a time with no personal growth and that there was 0 explanation on why anyone would want to collect souls. I loved the concept, there was just some depth I felt was missing.

Addie LaRue is mine too! I met the narrator of the audiobook and she said she thinks about it stuck with her too
