If you’re anything like me, you probably read a lot of books and forget a lot about them as well after reading them (also see: being ADHD)

Is there one specific book whose plot, characters, setting you just can’t get out of your mind and still think about today even when in the midst of another book?

For me, it’s 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. I think due to the sheer volume of this book (clocked in over 1000 pages) I was so invested in Tengo and Aomame’s stories that it’s quite impossible to forget them quickly. This is also why I prefer long novels, because they stick around in my memory for longer!

So what book is still stuck with you?

Question about A Little Life. How long would you say before you really got into it? I read 3 chapters and found myself struggling to care.

I wanted to pop in to say A Little Life took me about 350 pages to finally get hooked. It took me 2 weeks to get to that point, because I just couldn’t get into it—the author is very detailed, and I typically dislike that. I mean, seriously, early on one paragraph touches 3 pages! After that though, I finished the last 450ish pages in about 2 days, because it consumed my every thought. Once you get about halfway through, you start realizing all the details about these guys’ lives draws you into the story even more. Keep pushing through! For that reason, it is also the book I think about on an almost daily basis.

Shuggie Bain ❤️ loved it while also dreading it. If you enjoyed that one then you have to read Stuart’s new book from earlier last year, Young Mungo ❤️ I love Mungo as much as Shuggie
