I’d love to hear others thoughts on Duke. At times I couldn’t STAND him and at times I felt so compassionate(?? Not sure if that is the right word for it) towards him. I wanted more of his childhood/background.

I enjoyed the book. I liked that Lara liked her life on the cherry farm with her family- so simple but enough.

In the same boat! However, I do enjoy the lowkey ness of this book and how it’s very family centred! I’m also listening to it read by Meryl Streep, so that’s definitely helping :)

I didn’t need much more of Duke. He seemed like a well drawn out character, but more details didn’t seem relevant to Lara’s story. I think we got just enough of Duke. I enjoyed the book too. Not as much as The Dutch House for some reason, but I liked it quite a bit.

I agree that we got just enough of Duke. Too much more and I think it would have colored things differently.
