This is kind of a question/discussion prompt.

Im a fan of the show, haven’t read the comics, but have a general idea of large plot points (big fights, some twists) that come up later.

That said, spoilers abound.

I understand that the show and comics have some differences in how powerful some characters are portrayed, but I guess you could ask this question about both. Are their earth heroes able to match Viltrumites in certain aspects?

In episode 1 season 1, in the Omniman vs Guardians fight Red Rush seems to be faster than Omniman, the only one able to react to him and be on the defense for his teammates.

Nolan later shows he can go so fast as to obliterate a city with the sheer force of him flying by, so clearly he is capable of feats of incredible speed as well. So who is faster? Is this more like a “going so fast that he can only move in a straight line, can’t even really see” kind of ability? Whereas Red Rush has the agility and reaction time (the way he talks to his wife about the world seeming like slow motion to him?) to move fast and react fast? Like, could Nolan have just grabbed him in that fight by flying after him, or can he not match that level of control/agility while at that speed?

As far as I see/know most of earth’s super humans might as well be made of paper compared to Nolan and Mark, and from what I understand in he comics the Guardians didn’t even scratch Nolan, so very few people have the firepower to even damage them.

Another unlikely person that comes to mind is Rex. Doesn’t he kill a version of Mark or another Viltrumite by exploding himself? I’m only familiar with the show, but in it his explosives don’t seem that strong. If he could damage, let alone kill, a Viltrumite I’d think he’d be a more powerful hero.

I understand Eve is essentially a god, and maybe immortal so she counts too, but is more impressive than the other two I mentioned.

Is it just that earth’s heroes tend to be either glass cannons or very specialized? Are there others (from earth) capable of outmatching Viltrumites in specific areas?

This might be a dumb question, but I was interested in it since Viltrumites seem to really have hit the universal jackpot.

I understand Battle Beast and Allen apparently are/get to this level, but they’re aliens. Earth in this series seems to be chock full of every superhero trope possible, so I think it’d be crazy if there was never a superhuman that could match Viltrumites.
