So my sister is watching through for the very first time, spoiler free. I saw she was on s4 e4 so I asked what she thought so far. She said “The past few episodes have been really sad, i cried to it last night” I respond saying that yeah, drug overdoses usually are pretty sad, to which she replies “I wanna live in the 40s!” Turns out she was crying to bojack renovating the summer home.
Admittedly it is a pretty depressing episode with the flashbacks but out of that and s3 e11 I’m shocked that’s the one that stood out as emotional to her.
Good god I pray this girl is alright with times arrow.
The kid will become less naive with age and realize she would not, in fact, want to live in the 40s lol.
She’s only a few episodes from the lobotomy scene so I guess she’ll realize pretty soon.
I I would have lived in the 40s they/my mother would have “fixed” me with the help of a lobotomy, too.
What part of that episode makes the 40s look appealing, especially to a woman? Was the obvious satire not obvious enough?? Sugar on lemons??? Lobotomies???
That episode really hurts me to watch, but I come from a similar background - my grandmother was the daughter of a wealthy family who married below her class partially out of love and partially as a finger to her family. There’s also a history of outdated and inhumane medical techniques used on certain women in my family. So that episode really hits a nerve.
I do not, however, want to live in the 40s lol
I personally like having rights but, hey, to each their own
