Being honest, I don’t know much about South Park myself. I watch a few episodes that my friends recommend to me every now and then and that’s about it. Since I know a thing or two, when content from the show appears to me (and believe me, it’s pretty hard to exist on the internet without seeing South Park stuff) I click on it since I feel like I know enough to get the context, and from what I’ve seen, there are a LOT of people who know just as much as I do and still interact very often with the fandom, which is something I’ve never seen in any other community before. There’s also a lot of people I’ve seen that get bothered by that, whenever some Kyle fanart with freckles pops up for me on Pinterest there’s always a lot of people in the comments saying there’s a whole episode about how he’s a “daywalker” and doesn’t have freckles or something. Are people who haven’t watched the whole show/don’t know some major stuff about the characters posting about it actually a problem? Is this something that bothers most fans or is it not a big deal? I’ve never seen this happen as much as it does with stuff related to South Park, so I’m curious.

I like a TV show so I’m in “The Fandom”. It’s just label people like to give themselves so they feel like they belong to something.

Dude, if you haven’t been watching SP for 25 years like me and know everything about it then you don’t deserve to be a fan.

In a way it sort of depends on the tone and intent. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with constructive criticism like pointing out that he doesn’t have freckles. At the same time if you’re tearing someone down for not knowing, you’re kind of just being an ass
