Sometimes there’s that one book where maybe the premise was promising, the plot seemed intriguing, but once you delve into the book, the writing or narration style seems to fall short.

For me, I think Go as a River by Shelley Read was poorly written. I got tired of the writing style fairly quickly and dnf’d the book. I think the premise was interesting (it was supposed to be in the spirit of Where the Crawdads Sing which I found fantastic) and I would give the book another chance if it was written by Kristin Hannah. Kristin Hannah has written many emotional and interesting family motivated stories, I think she would’ve been a perfect fit for Go as a River.

You can’t help but wonder… if this book was written by a different author, maybe it would’ve been better? Which book do you think had a promising synopsis but should’ve been written by a different author?

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. Fight me.

A great and better book in comparison is A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks.
