Quite honestly I can’t stand only a few books that I’ve read, recently The Awakening by Nora Roberts.
Holy crap, do I reallllyyyyy want my money back. I was bored. So. Bored. The magic system was subpar, the characters just….ew, everything was so, so boring. The MC is an idiot.
What book is a zero star read for you?
Seven Eves. I know I am in the minority here but the book is an absolute mess. It reads like some college students clobbered some random words together that sounded cool. Was massive Stephenson fan before but this and whatever that WoW book was killed him for me
My big issue was that that book did not need a villain in it.
It’s the ultimate Person Vs. Nature story. A few hundred desperate survivors struggling to hold on and support each other in the face of history’s greatest disaster.
And then halfway through a stock Evil Politician shows up out of nowhere and promptly turns half of them against the other half for no good reason. It felt like Stephenson lost a bet and had to insert a random TV Trope into his sci-fi epic.

The premise sounded cool to me but I DNF’d it somewhere around the long explanation of spacesuits for asteroid mining.
My friend lent it to me and I started it and couldn’t get hooked in. The explanation for things were really long and convoluted. Then looking at how thick the book is has really made me not want to go back.
