Quite honestly I can’t stand only a few books that I’ve read, recently The Awakening by Nora Roberts.

Holy crap, do I reallllyyyyy want my money back. I was bored. So. Bored. The magic system was subpar, the characters just….ew, everything was so, so boring. The MC is an idiot.

What book is a zero star read for you?

A family member insisted I read this one because I love series like GOT and LOTR. She said it was her new favorite book. Honestly the only thing more insufferable than the writing was that I listened to the Audible version and the narrator had a head cold. The whole experience was miserable and I’m mad at myself for forcing myself through it.

Aaah I can not think of two books more different than each other. Absolutely Tolkien is rolling in his grave at the comparison. I’m jealous of the people telling me they DNF’d honestly. I should have known better.

I had a very similar experience with friends who knew I liked GOT and LOTR assuming I would like this too! I was feeling genuine rage towards the book by the end, like how could people think I would like this?? Lol.

Some of the world did sound cool to me, but the way the information was dumped with Violet reciting it when she’s nervous was sooooo silly and cringe to me. The dialogue was terrible and took me out of the fantasy setting entirely. And the romance was a huge nope from me, like she genuinely believes this guy wants to murder her but she can’t stop thinking about f***ing him? What?

Omg I got the audiobook too! I DNFed it because she also sounds super young and the whole thing made me uncomfortable and annoyed
