You were supposed to. That was the exact point of the spitting. It was a choice made by the writers because Ted Lasso is a well written show, and sticks to the mantra that it’s better to show vs tell us what’s going on with these characters. They could have used a line of dialogue to explain Nate’s journey, but that doesn’t make good TV. The spitting was a powerful image, and the character can’t be redeemed without first being torn down.
