I’ve seen people talk about actors and artists that had a terrible time.

My own would be Anne Rice. She wrote Interview with the Vampire after her young daughter died of Leukemia. Then her husband suddenly died of a brain hemorrhage. I suspect her Christian, anti-fanfic phase was a result of mental illness and manipulation from the publishers, although I don’t think she ever apologized.

Don Rosa made amazing comics about the life and adventures of Scrooge McDuck. His stories were my favourite when growing up.

But he, and many other comics writers under Disney, were paid very poorly despite being immensely popular. His own statement here

And on top of it all, his comics are now being cancelled and it seems his life’s work will be erased! First time I’m hearing about that today.

Halting reprints of specific stories is not erasing his life’s work. It IS the wrong move, but overall his legacy will live on.

Curious about this as well, I have all the hardcover editions of his work (and Barks) and my kids love them.
