I’ve seen people talk about actors and artists that had a terrible time.

My own would be Anne Rice. She wrote Interview with the Vampire after her young daughter died of Leukemia. Then her husband suddenly died of a brain hemorrhage. I suspect her Christian, anti-fanfic phase was a result of mental illness and manipulation from the publishers, although I don’t think she ever apologized.

Octavia e butler, she was underappreciated and died too young. I would have love reading more from here and seen her reaction in 2020.

I just started reading Parable of the Sower! Such a good book I stayed up late to read nearly 100 pages!

Yeah and her death was so unexpected. She fell down the stairs. Awful! She is one of my favorite authors. Wildseed is such an incredible book.

Lilith’s Brood/Xenogensis is hands-down my all-time favourite SF but was she really that underappreciated? She won Hugos and Nebulas in the 80s and in the years up to her death, she’s interviewed for documentaries and on Charlie Rose, plus she literally received the MacArthur Genius grant.
