I’m not a fan of this character change. After all the carnage he caused last season, feels pretty out of left field for him to be good now. Especially having all his change happen off screen.

Maybe it’s because he reminds me of my dad but I genuinely love him. He’s made mistakes and done terrible things but the wonderful thing about humans is our capacity for change and I believe anyone can change if they truly want it. And he wants to change,so he is. Can’t fault the man for that

I’m not against characters changing but for it to happen this fast and all offscreen us lazy writing imo

It technically wasn’t off screen. The shots of him flying through space for months was him thinking about what he had done. You could see that he was conflicted and when he had the opportunity to save, instead of destroy he took it because that’s what he feels gives him purpose

I just don’t buy that he could commit genocude for hundreds of years and change within a few months.

It wasn’t within a few months the thing that you have to keep in mind is that Viltrumites have the exact same range of emotions as humans. But, what with the way their society Works, they are conditioned from a young age to only acknowledge ruthlessness and loyalty to the Empire. Nothing else.

We see in flashbacks that Nolan was still a little bit emotionally closed off when it came to Mark when he was a child, but he eventually started opening up and acknowledging the feelings that he had never been allowed to experience among his own people.

And when he and whenever he’s confronted about caring about something that does not fall in line with what he has been taught his entire life, he doesn’t even know how to vocalize it because it’s a feeling so alien to him.
