I feel like Kirkman is slowly sprinkling little things in there for the comic fans. And it’s totally something he would do to dive deeper into those characters and their lives on earth.
The TV series has been using the power of hindsight very well. You can notice how many things are under the umbrella of “I wish I had done it like this instead”
