I finally got to watch Hannah Waddingham’s Christmas special and I just wanted to say GOLD DRESS! It redefined the meaning of an hourglass shape. It was stunning, so well constructed - she looked like a gold bell, or a blonde/gold Jessica Rabbit! Of course she was gorgeous in all three dresses, and she is so incredibly talented – she showcased her amazing vocal range (her O Holy Night was amazing), and she carried the whole show. And the Lasso cast was a lot of fun. Nick was hilarious, it was fun to see her with Juno again, and I loved seeing Phil’s vocal talents! Plus the surprise guest at the very end was so much fun.
Did you notice that her daughter got to participate without showing her face? Class act.

It’s funny that we all talk about her beauty and her amazing, fit body, but it never seems objectifying, the way it does with other women. I always feel squeamish about focusing on female celebrities’ bodies because it can be so harmful, but I feel like commenting on her impressive, statuesque figure is more empowering than objectifying. Maybe it’s her age and the power she exudes, or the classy way she presents herself. Or because the role of Rebecca was so powerful (I mean, Keely admitted she thought she was hot but then said it made her want to invade France!). Of maybe it’s because she looks like could possibly break someone in two if they objectified her to her face. 😂 Powerful can be sexy, and she is definitely both!
I think it echoes one of the best parts of Ted Lasso. There were great female characters who weren’t threatened by the brilliance of the others and built each other up rather than tear them down. As a woman, I found it very refreshing and so different than most shows.
