I think the bigger question is why doesn’t his wife or son speak in the KC accent?
Not everyone from the same area have the same accent. I grew up in Ohio for the first 11 years of my life so I have far less of a midwestern sound to my voice than my mom. I also adapted to my SoCal upbringing and had to stop saying pop.
