I know this seems to be a cultural difference in the way pets are treated or how much freedom they get. Coming from a Caribbean household, we believe pets should have their own space or they belong outside. I dont have a problem if they come in the bedroom for a little while but I would never allow a dog or cat to come on my bed. I’m curious to see how split ppl are on this?
Im American, we have cats. They are never allowed on my counters- They’re not allowed in the bedrooms either. Before I had kids, sure, then I had babies (with super sensitive skin) and became extremely aware of the hair, dander, buttholes on pillows, paws in litter boxes. 🤢
My 3 cats are the bosses of the house lol. They’re allowed in my bed at night they’re a comfort for my anxiety. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to pets and that’s totally fine. It’s something that should be talked about before getting into a serious relationship.
I agree with you 100%. My dog has his own bed in the living room.
My cat sleeps at my head, sometimes without me realizing it, around my head. I will physically bring him upstairs with me some nights when I go to bed. They’re only here for a snippet of our lives. I’m giving mine the best life possible. The only places we don’t let them go is on the table or kitchen counters.
My bed is the only furniture my dog is allowed on. 😆I have a sheet over the top that I refer to as the “dog layer” because it’s easy to wash all the time and then my bedding doesn’t get dirty. But while my dog wants to be on the bed, he’s not a snuggler. He just lays on the other side.
My puppy sleeps in bed with us. The cats are welcome, too. Wouldn’t have it any other way.
Ok, don’t have a pet on your bed. I don’t have one on mine either. But if I’m freeloading, I guess I am doing house rules and not being an asshole. We can’t go into other ppls homes and dictate how they live. That is why hotels are so popular, adults who like to be adults and follow their own rules will rent a room.
