Does (Spoilers) get better?

I started reading the comic a while ago, and while I’ve been really enjoying it, I just finished volume 10 (Who’s the boss?) and I fucking HATE Oliver. I loathe everything about how the character has been written so far, and I’m frankly dreading any storyline involving him. It’s genuinely so bad I’m considering putting down the comic.

Is this a common problem? Does he get better?
