Alright, it’s been a full TWO YEARS since I made my detailed predictions for Season 2. It’s time to see what I got right, what I got wrong, and adjust my predictions for the second half of the season airing in January.
Original Post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Invincible/s/JUk5KnSz8R
EPISODE 1 - A LESSON FOR YOUR NEXT LIFE
Prediction Wins:
- The cold open with Angstrom and Alt Mark (nailed it)
- Immortal and Bulletproof join the Guardians
- Mark is confronted by Immortal
- Maulers are broken out of prison (Not the After Credits though)
Prediction Fails:
- Didn’t expect Angstrom’s Origin to be condensed to just one episode, that throws off a lot going forward
- The title card gag was a cool switch up
- No Debbie crying on the floor until Episode 2, Art doesn’t show up but Olga does
EPISODE 2 - IN SIX HOURS I LOSE MY VIRGINITY TO A FISH
Prediction Wins:
- Mission to Atlantis
- Immortal and Kate grow closer ;)
Prediction Fails:
- No Claire & Superpatriot (replaced with SOS in Episode 3)
- No Allen & Telescria (Also in Episode 3)
- The return of Doc Seismic and his Magmanites!
- Atom Eve’s problems in New York with her powers & family drama
EPISODE 3 - THIS MISSIVE, THIS MACHINATION
Prediction Fails:
- Midnight City storyline happens in Episode 2, No Titan or Damien
- Atom Eve and Dr. Brandyworth stuff does happen…but in a separate origin special episode
- Seance Dog and the Journey to Thraxa happen now (not Episode 5 as predicted)
EPISODE 4 - IT’S BEEN AWHILE
Prediction Fails:
- Graduation is in Episode 2 instead, No drunk Debbie
- Rus/Shapesmith is also in Episode 2
- Discussion of summer/college plans is again Episode 2
- Battle on Thraxa happens now (not Episode 6 as predicted)
- All the stuff with Donald discovering who he is
- No William and Rick
- No Rex & Robot vs. Octoboss
- No Omnipotus
tl;dr A lot of close predictions, but the show’s pacing was much faster than I expected. That caused a cascading effect in getting stuff wrong in later episodes. The announcement of a half season split is another reason things in my original prediction were more spread out. I had Angstrom’s Origin over 4 episodes (condensed to 1), Atom Eve’s origin over 3 episodes (separate special), and Atlantis/Midnight City/Shapesmith all getting 1 episode each (condensed to 1). This left more than enough room to move Thraxa up to serve as the mid-season finale.
New Predictions Time!
tl;dr The crossover is happening. It’s been hinted too heavily, and the pacing of the story is too far ahead of the projected end point not to have it. The cover was in the first teaser. We have the voice actor confirmed. I don’t know how Amazon pulled it off, but Mark is gonna meet Spider-Man. I predict Part 2 is going to keep the accelerator pressed down until the finale and we will get both Mars and the Lizard League’s BIG moments before the end of the season.
EPISODE 5 - THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE
Alan comes out of his coma and Thaedus reveals his Viltrumite origins and the nature of Allen’s ability to grow stronger the more he is beaten. The two confront and defeat the real mole on the Council. Allen is ordered to return to Earth. Mark spends 2-months on Thraxa rebuilding the planet before Andressa dies. She leaves Oliver with Mark and they give him a ship to get home. Mark and Debbie reunite and Mark begins asking about Nolan’s books. The time away puts a strain on Mark and Amber’s relationship. Allen arrives on Earth and Mark tells him about Thraxa and gives him Nolan’s books. Allan uses the information to determine where Viltrumite weapons may exist and sets off to find them. Immortal and Kate get married in a private ceremony. Mark and Oliver begin to bond and Mark tells him about his Viltrumite powers.
Title Card: “I thought I was the only Viltrumite to reject their rule. I was alone until you told me about…” - Thaedus
After Credits: Cecil and the Guardians confront Shapesmith as the Martian ship approaches Earth’s atmosphere.
EPISODE 6 - THIS ISN’T HAPPENING
Atom Eve leads the rescue mission to Mars to defeat the sequids and save the astronaut Rus Livingston. Her along with Invincible, Robot, Shapesmith, Monster Girl, Black Samson, Bulletproof, and Immortal. The sequids are overwhelming and Eve struggles to contain them while Robot works on tech to disrupt their connection to the host. On Earth, Donald confronts Cecil about who he is and Cecil finally shows him the cyborg tech. Donald and Rick bond over their shared fate. The Lizard League attacks a nuclear reactor in Utah and the few remaining Guardians on Earth are forced to confront them alone. It ends disasterously, with Dupli-Kate and Shrinking Ray killed. Rex screams “This isn’t happening” over and over until he is overwhelmed. He is held at gunpoint and is shot shortly but not before taking out King Lizard. Surrounded by his dead friends, he weeps.
Title Card: “You are no normal solids. You resist our control. You are…” - Sequid-Infected Rus
After Credits: None
EPISODE 7 - NO WAY HOME
The Guardians return from space successful to find the horrors of their murdered teammates. Invincible and Eve visit Rex in the hospital who is in critical condition with severe survivor’s guilt. Mark and Amber meet and agree mutually to break up due to the long stretches away. Immortal and Bulletproof bond over losing loved ones and Immortal’s long life. Meanwhile, Allen on his mission to follow the leads from Nolan’s books, is captured by the Vultrumites. Mark is called to return home to find Debbie and Oliver held as hostages. He battles to save his family from the villain Angstrom Levy. He is thrown between various dimensions and has brief cameo run-ins with animated versions of characters from Walking Dead, DC, Amazon’s The Boys (among others). He is eventually sent to the Marvel Universe and meets Spider-Man.
Title Card: Played at the End with a spider-web and Spider-Man theme music over it
After Credits: Rus Livingston returns home and reveals a single surviving sequids has reached Earth
EPISODE 8 - I THOUGHT YOU WERE STRONGER
Invincible and Spider-Man team up to defeat Doc Oc and work on a way to stop Angstrom. Spider-Man seeing his outfit recommends he start with a new suit. At Avenger’s Tower, Spider-Man introduces Mark to SHIELD’s costume designer - an Alt Universe Art Rosenbaum (who bears a striking resemblance to the late Stan Lee)! Alt Universe Art builds Mark the blue and black suit to give Mark greater endurance and the element of surprise. Debbie attempts to escape with Oliver and Angstrom breaks her arm. Mark manages to grab hold of Angstrom and they begin flying through portals to countless dimensions. Eventually their fight lands them in a vast desert. Mark loses control and beats Angstrom to death. “I thought…I thought you were stronger…” He looks around and sees that he is now stranded in an alternate universe.
Title Card: “You think you can beat me? I’m stronger now boy! I’m…” - Angstrom Levy
After Credits: Allen the Alien is placed in a Viltrumite holding cell near Nolan and another shadowy figure. Allen warns them of his escape plan and Battle Beast steps from the shadows and growls with delight.
Honestly I’m shocked too. I just think the Easter egg from the teaser and Josh Keaton voice acting is too many coincidences to write it off. The other possibility I like is Mark interacting with the Boys universe since Amazon has the TV license for them and they’ve already been brought to animation in the Diabolical spin-off. We could get an actual canon Mark vs Homelander fight. That would be wild.
