The time is nigh. Can we start joking about it now? lol, 😂 or I’d assume the end of the year for the .3 years

Crazy so much time has passed, I actually remember that episode like it wasn’t two decades ago.

They should do an episode where they have Pete Davidson himself as a character and have him crack 9/11 jokes and then reference the 22.3 year rule.

And what about the families of the victims of 9/11? Their feelings matter for another 10 months, damnit!

You can joke about it but that still doesn’t make it any less fucked up. It was a tragedy, just because 22.3 years passed doesn’t mean that it didn’t happen.

      Depends on Context.

Obvious Statement: Tragedy is bad, but jokes are not. And as more time passes, it allows us to be more removed & objective with a tragedy. Yes 9/11 is still bad, but there is an eventual point where tragedies no-longer are taboos to joke about. I think it’s funny that South Park arbitrarily put the 22.3 year date - obviously no date is set in stone.

Does anyone nowadays shed tears for the tragedies that Genghis Khan committed? Why… TIME. Maybe the timetable is much longer than 22.3 years, but there will come a point where it’ll be joked about and no-one bats an eye.

You can certainly make funny jokes about 9/11. I think Norm Macdonald has some clever stuff on it. I think the difference though is that with aids, it affected various random people, maybe you knew some of them. But as medical science improves, the impact of aids will be felt less by future generations.

9/11 was the death of innocence of the western world. It basically affected everyone on earth, whether directly or indirectly, and the policies, wars, and laws enacted during that time completely shaped the world to what it is today. You can totally still make fun of it, but I don’t think itll ever have a true expiration date like aids did.

I don’t know, people tell Pearl Harbor, Hitler, and WWII jokes. Enough time has passed for those (especially considering those telling the jokes and listening to them were born after those events).

If my calculation from a year ago was correct, it will officially be funny on the 8th January '24, 8:45 EST

Though I may be slightly off.

It’s never OK. That was a tragic moment in American history and nothing about it was funny. What in the actual fuck is wrong with you?

Something about glass houses and stones.

I mean I go to your profile, and you act like a porn addict.

they already did it. the jersey shore episode where randy calls bin laden to fly jets into the crowds of people from new jersey.

pretty fucked up considering how many people that died in 9/11 were commuters from new jersey.
