Why would he write of Viltrumite weaknesses to begin with? He was pretty dedicated to his eventual takeover. So why would he ever write anything which could ever come back to bite him or his people in the ass?

He could just as easily be recording those for the viltrumite empire, so they’d go handle the threats after conquering earth and replenishing their numbers.

I thought that was the reason, it was so when he regrouped with the Viltrumites he’d have his older missions recorded for debriefing.
He’d definitely want to keep track of potential threats to the Empire, and with how long lived Viltrumites are he might forget details if he didn’t leave some sort of records for himself.
Alternatively it could be Debbie’s or Cecil’s idea.

That’s exactly what I thought they were doing lol. When art talks about it, he tells Mark that they never sold well as sci-fi, so instead he started doing travel books. Same concept for him. Just write about the shit you can do quickly or have already done
My headcanon is that he kept memory of all those threats in case they ever needed to fight them , but he only wrote about them once he subconsciously began to change on earth.
I started the comic a couple weeks back and I’m almost done with it, but there’s a lot of events I feel get skipped or just glossed over and you just learn about them from a panel.
The show did a really nice thing to show Nolan’s journey outside of Earth after the fight with Mark.
I always assumed this was the reason. He was writing it so other viltrumites would be able to solve these weaknesses. Or harness…them. chomp.
