It’s a feature modern South Park. You have to expect a little of that “both sides are dumb” vibe from SP these days. They’re older now and have kids, so their mindsets have changed.

    Noticeably missing from older episodes:

    • People who complain about Stephen Spielberg and George Lucas raping Indiana Jones are just as bad and share some of the blame
    • People who complain about Whale Wars are just as bad and share some of the blame
    • People who complain about John Edward are just as bad and share some of the blame
    • People who complain about Scientology are just as bad and share some of the blame

But you will usually get that vibe from the modern stuff.

If anything, this episode seemed more into ripping on the fans who get upset over the whole diversity and inclusion Disney is doing rather than ripping on Disney itself. Yeah, they poked fun at the bad movies Disney did, but this episode really was about how dumb it was for people to get upset over diverse casts and inclusion. Like hell, they even made Iger one of the most normal adults in the series, something that shocked me even more.

They literally did both. They criticized Disney for “making shitty movies”, as well as fans for getting upset over sex and race. Especially non-fans. The majority of people who lost their shit over the little mermaid never gave a shit about the little mermaid before, lol.

Well, i think you missed the point my friend. While they did criticise fans for going overboard with their displeasure known in aggressive ways, they totally ripped on Disney as well, for putting forced inclusion above the quality of content, that was still the central theme of the episode.

They were right not to roast Kathleen Kennedy. The internet hate-boner for her is insane. She’s always fully responsible for the failures, yet completely uninvolved in any successes. In the end, it’s Disney that demanded an instant conveyor belt of content, and rushing to churn things out did the real damage.

What was the success? The first star wars she released? Of course that was going to do well, it’s star wars… Every other star wars film after that one made consecutively less money. Solo lost money. They’ve gotten to the point where they won’t even release a new movie anymore.

Ratings for starwars shows on Disney plus are in the toilet. Even mando fell off a cliff

Indian jones 4 was a massive failure

      Willow was a total dud

She has managed Lucafilms in to a situation where they have no viable properties

Disney bought star wars for merchandise sales which are abysmal

The only way you can think KK has done anything good for Lucafilms is to have a total lack of awareness of the situation.

A complete roast of Kathlyn Kennedy would have destroyed the very point Matt and Trey were trying to make. The way they did it was a very well balanced jab at both sides of the argument.

It’s stupid to get mad at a movie because it has a diverse cast rather than the merit of its story. I think that was the message. A lot of people get mad simply about diversity rather than question whether we needed another remake.

Also, I wish this sub would let us edit our flairs because I want mine to be “a chick whose fucking gay as fucking fuck”

I don’t think it’s stupid to get mad, the point is, it shows clear as a day when it’s actually about having a casting diversity and when it’s about just making a point by forcing sub standard stuff down people’s throat and shaming then when they don’t like it, because you casted a diverse cast. It’s totally okay to rip on when they retell the same stories, don’t develop their own characters and just lazily replace a previous one with an all able minority representation who just can’t be wrong about anything. Yes, the message is for fans to not go overboard but it’s also just as much as for the production houses to create original content around diverse performers instead of just putting them as substitutes

But that’s not what a lot of people complain about. They complain about diverse casting and nothing to do with the film itself.

This, lots of things on this subreddit have literally been people agreeing with Cartman… like problem was never that they are making movies more diverse

They blamed her for ruining disney movies, and called her a narcisst that cant think straight because of hatemail.

They shit on her and at the same time acknowledged that she cannot have it easy.

    Pretty good explenation really.
