I hate the straw man argument that people say if you agree with Cartman in this episode, you must also agree with all wild fucked up shit he’s infamously known for. Well a broken clock is right twice a day, and Cartman was absolutely right when it comes to Kathleen Kennedy. She’s a huge reason Star Wars was ruined since Disney acquired it. Also as far as show writing goes, Cartman was the only appropriate character to voice this opinion because if it were Kyle or Stan it would have come across as just stereotypical white boys hating on “woke politics” in modern movies. By having Cartman be the one to do it, it allowed the opinion to be exaggerated to the extreme for comedic effect, without tarnishing Stan or Kyle who usually find the middle ground and are pretty based when it comes to pressing issues or hot takes.
People forget that the whole point of South Park is that it takes the piss out of everyone and every side, but ultimately has a rational message. It’s almost a voice of reason
Dude, it’s my Bible.
I love the coping that Matt and Trey created over this. The left will never let this go. Even when they get kicked in the nuts they still cling to scraps on social media echo chambers like this.
This episode has been wonderful for finding channels to block from my YouTube recommendations.
Man, this meme is pure, uncut Columbian copium 😂
And you people are just as bad by constantly bringing this point up as well, get off your high horse. Thought I would be recommended some humour by following this reddit but this is the only shit that shows up in my feed. I’m out
You can do woke very right and very wrong. Putting a chick in it and making it lame and gay is bad woke writing. Captain Jack from doctor who is hot. That is all.
Matt and Tray just want to piss off everyone, reading your personal politics into their work is pointless and frustrating.
Personal politics? Matt and Trey spelled it out themselves in the movie.
It wasn’t till this pic that I noticed the female chef pic in the back. Pandering at its finest down to the smallest detail.
Whatever side you are on they made fun of you. Just move on and let ppl use it however they want
I love how south park is on both sides.
But, speaking of, the first image is funny to use as a shitpost, I guess
It’s about nuance but it’s pretty obvious who is being made fun of the most
South Park stopped being funny a couple of years ago.
What is hilarious is people taking life lessons from it. That’s beyond pathetic.
Dude don’t go into a South Park chat if your gonna shit on the show.
Gatekeeping what other people find funny… Dumb woke bitches really think we’re as obsessed with them as they are at coming across caring. Stupid naive cunts. Palestinian children deserve to die slowly and painfully - that’s funny, but not in comparison to how silly woke writers are.
It kind of feels like this was thrown in there for the whole “we make fun of both sides” thing and nothing more. Cause practically the entire episode is making fun of woke stuff but then supposedly this one Eric Cartman line is supposed to just equal the scales entirely or invalidate all the people that use this episode as a talking point for anti-woke discussion.
That plus, I kind of got the feeling Matt and Trey were missing WHY all the woke stuff is being put in movies these days. Yes, some of it is laziness and response to racist comments, but there’s also the stupid ESG score stuff too that financially motivates Disney and other companies and businesses to pull this crap.
Well, they just do that to cover every base, or to show that they thought a little more deeply about it. The main jokes of an episode generally reflect their real feelings. They’re right, it is stupid, anyone who isn’t wrapped up in the emotions of the issue can see it plain as day. Becoming so obsessed with diversity that you put it front and centre in every single movie really is stupid, and using it to distract from or excuse the fact that your movie sucks ass is just sleazy
