Inspired by a recent post I saw, what is a book or series that you really wanted to like but couldn’t bring yourself to finish for whatever reason?

For me it’s the Dresden Files. The story itself is everything I love; magic and monsters clashing with modern reality, great visual storytelling, and so much promise for a massive world to explore. Yet despite constant insistence it gets better with every book, and constant attempts to to get to that point, I have never made it past the third one. If I had to put words to it, the world never seems to pull me in the way other stories do. It’s actually a problem for me when reading that I get completely submerged in the reality of that story and I can’t consume any other media until that journey is done. Sadly, I never felt it with TDF.

So many women I knew were into 50 Shades of Gray.

I was not really interested, but I wanted to be. Able to chat with them about it. Especially when the movie came out.

So I downloaded the first book.

Ugh. It was so horribly written I couldn’t stand it. I gave up about 75 pages in, even though I gave it way more time than I do other books because I really did want to be able to discuss.

    Such a horribly written book.
