I’m catching up on old seasons - and I’m a bit confused why most of the parents can’t visit? Is it really a visa issue or do we think it’s more for show dramatics? I don’t think I realized it was so difficult to just come for a week or something

My senior parents from the Philippines got their US tourist visa very quick, it took less than a month to get their interview and a week to get their visa. But they have to show property titles, show bank accounts and proved they have a business to go back home. My sister who had a good job in Singapore back then also applied for US tourist visa got denied the first time because they said she doesn’t have strong ties to return to her home country. She finally got approved the 2nd time she applied. There’s so many Filipinos who overstayed and became illegals in the US that’s why they’re so strict in approving tourist visa. I have a cousin who jump shipped and stayed here illegally and his mom who came as tourist and never went home, they’re both legal now because of a grant. But it’s because of some people’s doing that makes it difficult for the others who just wants to visit.
