Haven’t watched the newest special, but I’m assuming Cartman is representing overly sensitive “anti-woke” people

I feel like it was clear that Cartman was representing the racist right wingers who made anti wokeness their whole identity, meanwhile the other kids were normal folks who cannot make sense out of some characters suddenly genderswapping and preaching about social issues.

Stan and Kyle literally said they didn’t care about race-swapping.

The point of them was that the issue isn’t diversity, the issue is just lazy writing.

Miles Morales was used as their focal point because he is a race-swapped Spiderman who were in storylines that did preach about social issues. They like Miles because he’s actually written as a real character instead of a cash grab.

Nowadays he is but originally in the ultimate comics run miles replaced peter after his death. There where a few fans who did react quite explosively to that not helped by the fact that he was arguably not written as well as he was later on and didn’t have any prior legacy like a character like kid flash becoming flash did he was kinda slapped into being spider man after the death of a popular version of spider man.

Because Miles Morales isn’t “Black Spider-Man” he is Miles Morales, who happens to be a black Spider-Man. If they just made Peter Parker black, it wouldn’t be the same.

Its funny how insanely accurate SP is sometimes.

That’s how Trey and Matt have always been so successful. No matter how nucking futz, insane, or seemingly chaotic South Park gets, they always seem to have their finger on the pulse of whatever issue they are parodying, and they seem to understand the actual issue very very well. This lets them then take it in a completely crazy direction on the surface but with a completely sane and accurate undertone or point.
