I think he actually loves Shekinah, but I think that he is in a paradigm of complete assholery. I think Shekinah is too smart for him, but I think he is actually emotionally, more mature than she is since she seems to always be trying to test him and he just wants to make both of them happy… on a very basic level.
He seems to have OCD which I think is the source of most of his controlling behavior and I think could be managed well with a therapist.
The difference between him, and Shekinah is that he is ignorant but willing to learn, and she is malicious and willing to do whatever it takes to get what she wants. Sometimes, those are very reasonable desires, and other times they come off like she is demanding some thing as a child does.
I sincerely think that Sarper is below average intelligence.
I’m diagnosed with severe ocd and my knee-jerk reaction was to say I can’t see it in him and he’s just an arsehole but honestly? I know a guy with it untreated and he really controls his wife. Totally takes over their life. So you might not be wrong.
I think I lean more towards he has a fake/bimbo thing and wants to be like the couples who are living dolls and end up on Botched. That she’s an exact representation of him and his power. Like she’s a project. Either way, it’s fucking obsessive to an unhealthy degree.
My dad had severe ocd and controlled every aspect of our lives. He happened to also be an asshole but I always wondered what it would have been like had he treated that. That’s kind of what I see in Sarper. But I definitely agree that the asshole stuff is NOT ocd, Just co-occurring.
He does seem to have language skills. Although it could be that he can SPEAK English pretty well but might not UNDERSTAND it as well. I also suspect that he speaks multiple languages.
My husband is Italian and speaks, writes and understands English on a fluent level. That doesn’t mean that when I start talking fast and with great detail/bigger words, he understands everything. Sometimes he still asks me what words mean.
Sarper might not understand English as well as we think - and that talking to someone in person is different than on a screen, where you can focus on their lips.

I’m so sorry you went through that, I can only imagine the emotional minefield. I think the high anxiety of ocd can really bring out the worst.
I find Sarper funny but when you think of the intensity it’s not so funny. What happens when his doll has periods and water weight?!
