1 year agoSeen a few people talk about this, bit of a misunderstanding. You’re thinking of escaping the event horizon, not the pull of a black hole, that’s not so much of an issue. Nolan never crossed the event horizon.
Bear in mind, I’m not a physicist, may get stuff wrong or not word it properly.
You could have a black hole with the mass of Earth, and a rocket would be able to pass by without being pulled in, because the hole has the same pull as earth. Until you cross the event horizon, then nothing can escape. May not be a great analogy, because I think a black hole with the mass of earth would be tiny.
Someone correct me if I got that wrong
If people don’t look into it there’s no reason they’d know. I know about this because I’ve been interested in physics since first school and watched loads of documentaries, YouTube videos and read into it.
It’s not relevant to a lot of people though, so lots of people won’t have any reason to know what an event horizon is
