I think she is just trying to find reasonable justification for it for herself so she can excuse it in front of us while using words/phrases that comfort her mind and manipulate the stupid.

Only because she is so insecure herself and so scared to be alone and take the step too. She has not ever been single - let alone with two kids now. In her mind she feels forced to make it work with Asuelu while also wanting the fantasy to experience what she missed out on in life.
