That’s pretty easy:
JG Faherty - one of the best supernatural/horror writers today.
Stephen King - gotta have the master on your shelves!
Michael McBride - the best at science-based horror thrillers.

Nope. I read books because they interest me. As someone who is over 60, it wasn’t until the advent of social media that I even knew what most of the people I read looked like. Sometimes, because of pen names, a person you thought was a man or woman was the opposite in real life! You didn’t know if someone was white or black unless their picture was on the back cover. As for gay or straight, no idea ever.
Now I know that stuff, but I don’t track it. I go by books that sound interesting and books my fellow readers recommend.
Many of today’s ‘popular’ writers hit me this way, because I feel they are only celebrated because they are different, as opposed to really good.
Malerman. Hendrix. Tremblay.
And then there are the ones who write at a childish level, but are best sellers. Patterson. Dan Brown. Those kinds of people, where sometimes the story is so outlandish, or doesn’t make sense, you wonder how people can read book after book.

Many of my friends don’t read at all, or at best they read the occasional sports or hunting magazine. It’s not a big deal to me. We all have different things in life that we enjoy.
