It’s not totally unreasonable, We have had some teasers of this in the run up to season 2 (comic cover in teaser trailer etc.) and the voice cast does include a notable figure who has played the character before.

In all likelihood though I can easily see them pulling basically a knock off hero in his place if they still want to include that story.
