I agree. Hey, do you have any recommendations for someone trying to get into Russian literature? Hopefully not something as long as Infinite Jest — ideally a quick(ish) read?

I love when people say things like this because I always just ask “oh, what’s your favorite passage?” Or “which translation do you prefer”? Because it’s just such an annoying question, but it’s an equally annoying book to call it “your favorite”.

It’s like when I was 13 and used to tell people that my favorite book was “A Proper Study of Mankind” by Isaiah Berlin was my favorite book. Is it a wonderful book, full of interesting thoughts, and examinations? Hell yeah. Is it an annoying, un-relatable answer? Also hell yeah.
